Direct seeders resume meets

Colfax-Palouse Direct Seed Association will resume monthly breakfast seminar series Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the United Methodist Church on Mill Street in Colfax.

Speaker will be Mark Richter, a farmer from Endicott who direct seeds his entire farm and contracts direct seed planting for neighbors. Richter has also designed some of the equipment he uses in his direct seed operation.

Also speaking will be Scot Hulbert, the Washington Grain Commission’s endowed chair of cropping systems research at Washington State University. Hulbert will speak about his team’s research in breeding oilseed crops that can be used in a direct seed rotation. Hulbert’s team is currently developing an herbicide tolerant variety of camelina, according to organizers Dennis Roe and Dan Harwood.

A hosted breakfast provided by Primeland Cooperative will be served. All are welcome.
