GP students have a blast

Garfield-Palouse Middle School Rockets Class, led by science teacher Phil Weagraff, continued its tradition of research and design of model rockets this fall. Kit-built rockets were recently blasted off on the middle school ballfield. Students in the elective course started with research on flight techniques used to lift planes, helicopters, rockets and birds. Many of the rockets blasted several hundred feet into the air. Students then moved on to designing a rocket of their own, which they will make from common household items. These models, built from scratch, will also be launched....
