Colfax netters now 5-0

Colfax volleyball players pegged two more league wins and placed 12th in the Spokane Crossover classic tournament Saturday. The league wins put the Bulldogs up 5-0 in the race with two rounds left.

Genesee’s Bulldogs will be here tonight for a non-leaguer, and the Bulldogs will travel to Davenport Saturday. They will be at St. George’s next Tuesday to wrap up the league campaign.

Saturday in the big tournament at Spokane, Colfax ran three quick pool wins to land in the platinum bracket of the afternoon playoffs. The bracket for the top 16 teams featured some of the state’s top rated teams in all division. It included Mead which is rated on top of the 4-A division.

“I think that’s the best Mead team I’ve seen in a long time,” Bulldog Coach Sue Doering comment.

Mead prevailed over Colfax 25-18 and 25-12 in the first playoff round.

The Bulldogs then took a playoff round over East Valley of Spokane 17-25 25-22 and 18-16 in the decider.

The tourney then cooked down to single game rounds and the Buldogs bowed to West Valley of Yakima, number one in AA, 25-16 and Camas, number 6 in 4A, 25-14 to finish in 12th place.

Top mark ever for Colfax in the crossover was a third place finish in 2008.

Colfax started in the 64-team field at Ferris with two-game pool wins, over Tahoma 25-15 25-20; Ferris 25-18 25-12 and Wilbur/Creston 25-13 25-12.

The sweep put them in the platinum bracket which was also played at Ferris.

Tuesday at Colfax the Bulldogs rolled out another three-game win over a league foe, Liberty. Match line was 25-5 25-7 and 25-15.

Rachel Robinson started the game with a run of nine serve points. Kindra Kneale pegged two blocks, and Sidney Huber had three kills and another two blocks in the run.

Amara Huber ran eight serve points in the last game and hit all four of her aces in the string. She finished 13-13 serving.

Last Thursday at Springdale, Colfax booked league win number four with another round of three straight games, 25-5 25-17 and 25-13.

Rachel Robinson hit 16-16 serving with four aces, and Taylor Larsen hit 11-13 with six aces.

Nicole Sheer had six kills, and Amelie Bruya put up 19 assists against the Charger netters.
