Eagles add two XC wins

SJE girls added two more cross country wins last week in advance of hosting a home race at the St. John Golf course Wednesday. Heather Siegel took wins in both races last week, the WWVA race at the Whitman Mission Park in Walla Walla and the Potlatch Invitational Saturday.

SJE girls pegged a team score of 18 at the WWVA run last Wednesday with Heather Siegel topping the field at 21:40.

Courtenay Perry of Tekoa/Oakesdale/Rosalia placed fourth in the run to break up a perfect first-five finish for the Eagles.

Also finishing for SJE were Jordan Porubek, 2nd at 22:00; Shania Bailey, 3rd at 22:14; Jade Porubek, 5th at 23:38; Sami Bailey, 6th at 23:59, and Annie Bailey, 11th at 25:39.

Other placers for TOR were McKenzie Demsey, 15th at 26:33, and Melissa Groom, 16th at 26:51.

Kelly Smith of Tri-Cities Prep clocked 18:03 to lead a Jaguars team win of 19 points. Luke Bailey placed 23rd for the Eagles at 19:56; Kaleb Kolb, 25th at 20:93; Justin Wargo, 28th at 20:46, and Jacob Blakeley, 55th at 55:06.

The Nighthawks placed third with a 78 team score. Finishers were Dalton Jacobs, 7th at 18:34; Drew Howard, 11th at 19:01; Dillon Jacobs, 19th at 19:20; Tanner Dingman, 30th at 20:59; Parker Perry, 32nd at 21:30; Brent Curtis, 33rd at 21:42, and Gage Merrett, 34th at 21:57. Cody Anderson clocked 31:15.

Saturday at Potlatch Siegel led a field of 28 girls with a 20:15 clocking, and the Eagles took the team win with 24.

Also finishing for the Eagles were Shania Bailey, 4th at 21:16; Jordan Porubek, 5th at 21:20; Sami Bailey, 8th at 22:10; Jade Porubeck, 10th at 22:34; Annie Bailey, 13th at 24:45, and Allison Rich, 26th at 30:54.

Kaleb Bass of Grangeville won the boys race at 17:48. For SJE, Luke Bailey placed 12th at 19:57; Justin Wargo, 13th at 20:06, and Jacob Blakeley, 40th at 30:06.
