The Kentucky Bluegrass suit came to an official end Wednesday, Oct. 17, when the court was notified attorneys had reached an agreement. The Oct. 15 start of a month-long trial of the civil suit was postponed a week after attorneys for the two remaining sides advised the court that a tentative agreement was in the works.
Potential jurors were notified and advised of a call-in number to check the status of the trial.
The legal battle began two years ago when three groups of growers filed suits against Scotts Company, Seeds, Inc., of Tekoa and Dye Seed Ranch of Pomeroy. The growers contended they had not been paid under terms of their contracts for Kentucky Bluegrass Seed production.
The court learned at the start of this month that the growers groups had settled with Scotts Company, and the remaining parties in the suit were Scotts and Seeds, Inc., of Tekoa.
Total number of official records in the dispute numbered 574 as of the last filing Oct. 15.
Official notice of settlement has not yet been filed with the court.
