Obituary - Lula Hathaway Rader

A burial service for Lula Hathaway Rader, 92, former Farmington resident who has resided in Maddock, N.D., for the last six years, has been scheduled at the cemetery at Hartline, Wash., at 2 p.m. A funeral service was Monday at the Zion Lutheran Brethren Chuch in Maddock. She died last Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at the Luthern Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford, N.D.

Mrs. Rader returned to Farmington, where she was raised, after she retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1985.

Born April 10, 1920, to Harry and Catherine Rutherford Hathaway, she attended grade school at Farmington and then graduated from high school at Deer Park. She and Clarence Rader were married in 1937 and later divorced. She attended a business school at the University of Washington and then worked as a bookkeeper before starting her postal career in Kalamazoo, Mich., in 1965. She retired at Seattle.

Mrs. Rader was an active member of Country Bible Church in Latah. She enjoyed traveling, reading and writing poetry, quilting and crocheting and playing cards.

Surviving are two children, Patricia (John ) Maddock, Maddock; Jerry (Marie) Rader, Alderwood Manor; four grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Marion Rader.
