Families gather for Thanksgiving

Dusty

Larry and Di Brink hosted Thanksgiving dinner for their family. Son Tom Phillips arrived from his home in Las Vegas on the Monday prior to the holiday and stayed until Saturday. Kevin, Amber, Ashley, Kloey, Ellie and Nick Brink, Kennewick, stayed Thursday and Friday. Joan and Lucky Myrick, Dusty, and Mike Stine, LaCrosse, attended the dinner Thursday. Dawson Messer was a Thanksgiving day visitor. Son and daughter-in-law John and Brandy Brink, Pullman, visited Friday.

Linda Hennigar was among about 30 guests of Gary and Diane Monson on Thanksgiving day.

Jen, Ryan, Kellen, Becket and Willa Hammons, Boise, and Carrie Pitts, Yakima, arrived at the Kim and Cindy Pitts home for Thanksgiving on Wednesday. Amanda, Erik, Rafe and Tate Carlson, Spokane, arrived Thanksgiving morning. They all were among 20 guests of Bob and Leanne Bafus for Thanksgiving dinner. The Pitts’s guests returned to their respective homes on Saturday.

David and Phyllis Stueckle spent Thanksgiving with various Aune and Stueckle family members in Puyallup at the home of Reuben and Judy Stueckle.

Oscar Broeckel, Brian and Angela Broeckel and Graham BeDell, Dusty, Alex BeDell, Walla Walla, and Sami BeDell, Moscow; Karen Broeckel, Dusty; Tom and Doreen Riedner, Genesee; Cliff and Jeanette Nolan, Colfax, Ken and Pam Beasley, Waitsburg, Zach and Austin Beasley, Pullman; Patty Wieber, Brett Wieber, Matty Forrest, Andrew Nolan and Taylor Schlenske, Spokane; all were Thanksgiving day guests of Greg, Gwen and Jason Nolan, Colfax.

Tony and Denise Kendall, Tacoma, were weekend guests at the home of her father, Oscar Broeckel. Doreen Riedner, Genesee, joined them on Saturday.

The Saturday before Thanksgiving, Blake and Carmen Heaton celebrated at their home with Justin and Katy Heaton. Tuesday, Katy under went surgery at Sacred Heart in Spokane. Surgery went well, and she was expected to be discharged that weekend but complications set in and she continues to remain a patient at that hospital.

Berniece Lambert Krom, 96, died Nov. 21 at the Whitman Hospital and Medical Center.

Berniece was born in Dusty to Charlie and Mary Lambert and was one of eight siblings.

She married Ben Krom in 1939 and they lived most of their married life on the family farm south of Dusty where they raised their three daughters.

Berniece was the former reporter for the Dusty news in the Whitman County Gazette, pianist for the Country Bible Church, superintendent of the Home Ec.

Department at the Palouse Empire Fair, wrote books on family and area history, was a 4-H leader for many years, taught sewing through continuing education facilities, belonged to the Dusty BB Club and will be remembered as a beloved member of the Dusty community.

She is survived by her daughters and their families: Sharry O’Hearne, Colfax; Vicki (Dale) Broeckel, Dusty, and their daughters, Kim Gustafson, Dusty, and Michelle (Mike) Carver, Spokane, and Gwen (Randy) Klein and son, Benjamin, and Vanessa Klein, Spokane.
