Obituaries - Anita Aeschliman

Anita Aeschliman

A memorial service for Anita (Hanita) Edna Aeschliman, 91, Colfax native who resided at Moscow for the past seven years, will be Saturday, Dec. 8, at Good Samaritan Village, in Moscow from 2 to 4 p.m. Mrs. Aeschlimen died Nov. 24, 2012, at Good Samaritan Village in Moscow.

Born Oct. 19, 1921, in Colfax, to Gustav and Amelia Trauber Broweleit, she graduated from Colfax High School and moved to Long Beach, Calif., to stay with a friend and started a four-year correspondence with Ralph O. Aeschliman who was serving in the Navy. After he completed service with the Navy, he went to see her and they were married April 5, 1941, in Las Vegas. They celebrated 71 years of marriage this past April.

They later moved from Long Beach to Sunset Beach, Calilf., then just a small beach town surrounded by salt water marshes.

In 1958, they moved to Eastgate, where their son, Ralph Jr., finished high school.

In 1963, they moved to Seal Beach, Calif., where both worked at the post office.

Later they moved to Lake Sammamish at Bellevue, and she worked as a secretary in Seattle, then in the executive offices of Safeway in Bellevue.

When she retired from Safeway, they bought a home on Whidbey Island near Greenbank.

While on Whidbey Island, Anita was involved in gardening and bridge groups and did line dancing and watercolor painting.

About 1998, they moved to Brookings, Ore., to be near their son, Ron.

They moved to Moscow’s Good Samaritan Village in 2005 where she had lived since that time.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph, Moscow; her two sons, Ralph Aeschliman Jr., of Moscow, and Ronald Aeschliman (who changed his name years ago to Roads), Gig Harbor; and two grandchildren.

Memorial donations are suggested to the Good Samaritan Village Foundation.
