Beau St. John earns EW-NI slot
Beau St. John, a seventh grader at Rosalia Middle School, was selected from tryouts to participate on the Eastern Washington/North Idaho All-Star Football Team.
Beau was a football player in the Spokane Youth Sports Association League last fall and was nominated by league coaches. He is the son of David and Cathy St. John.
The team will be playing two games this weekend in Portland area against all-star teams from Oregon and the Seattle area in the regional FBU national championship.
If they win in Portland, they will continue in the playoffs in Reno, Nev., the weekend of Dec. 15.
The final four teams from those playoffs will earn an all-expense paid trip to San Antonio, Texas, for a chance to play in the national championship final following the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
Broncos bring 2b title back to NE
The LRS Broncos capped off the football season with a 21-19 win over Morton-White Swan Friday to win the 2B state title in the Tacoma Dome.
The Broncos took the state title with a drive in the last eight minutes of the game. Quarterback Dylan Hartz and running back Conner O’Neill were credited with making big plays to keep the scoring drive alive. Both are juniors who can be expected to leave a second mark in the NE grid campaign next year.
The Broncos finished the season with a 13-0 record.
Patriots take title from Neah Bay
Liberty Christian Patriots, the terror of the SE 1B eights, finished up with a 34-28 win over Neah Bay, the defending champions to take the state title Sunday afternoon.
The Patriots scored the winning TD in the last seconds of the eight-man title game.
