A consumer storage business is expanding in Garfield.
S&M Storage added 16 new units to double its capacity. The business, operated by Steve Wolheter and Mike Boller of Potlatch, located along Highway 27 in Garfield three years ago. First names of the proprietors are incorporated in the company name.
The new metal building is adjacent to the old one.
“We’re just expanding. They’ve been full,” said Boller.
The building will contain 14 units measuring 10x12 units and two 5x12. They were built by CDA Structures of Hayden, Idaho, and the building is all metal.
“No wood in it at all,” said Boller, who expected construction to be finished by the beginning of this week.
Gravel work and adding yellow covers to the corners to make them more visible to motorists were among the details to be made at the end of the week.
“After that it’ll be ready to go,” Boller said. “Should be ready to rent Friday.”
S & M Storage also has 46 units in Potlatch.
Boller said their initial expansion to Garfield has turned out well.
“Over there, we kind of took a chance, there wasn’t one close,” he said.
