Funeral mass for Gerald P. Winn, 79, was Friday, Dec. 14, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tekoa with the Rev. Mike Savelesky officiating. Burial followed at Goldenrod Cemetery in Tekoa. Mr. Winn died Dec. 10, 2012, at St. Joseph Care Center in Spokane.
Born Sept. 13, 1933, at Oakesdale to Lawrence and Selma Robinson Winn, he attended Oakesdale schools and graduated with the class of 1951. Gerald attended one year at Washington State College and then attended Kinman Business University in Spokane.
Mr. Winn served in the United States Army and received his discharge in May of 1955.
He and Colleen Sauer Watson were married Sept. 22, 1973, at Tekoa and they made their home in Tekoa. Mr. Winn worked as a bookkeeper for Gardner and Smith Fertilizer Co. for 25 years. He later worked as a self-employed life insurance salesman. He served on the Tekoa City Council for 12 years. He was active in the Oakesdale Jaycee Club and the State Jaycee Club working with the Junior Miss Program. He was a former member of the Odd Fellows Lodge at Oakesdale.
Survivors include his wife Colleen at the Tekoa home; their children; Jennifer Winn of Portland; Michael (Amy) Watson of Oak Harbor, Steven (Nancy) Watson of Cheney, Mark (Mary) Watson of Bellingham, and Matthew (Jean) Watson of Oakesdale; one brother Kenneth Winn, Spokane; a sister, Judith Winn, Oakesdale, and 12 grandchildren.
