Obituary - Ruth M. Daman

Funeral services for Ruth M. Daman, 90, were Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Tensed Community Church.

Dr. Glenn Daman and Pastor Tom Owen officiated.

Mrs. Daman died Dec. 10 at her home near DeSmet.

Born June 1, 1922, at Appleton, Wis., to John and Mary Wood Goodrick, she grew up at Appleton and attended Westmont College and Milwaukee Teachers College where she received her teaching degree in 1944. She then attended St. Paul Bible College and received a degree in Bible Studies.

She came to Tensed in 1952 as a missionary and met Ora Wayne Daman who farmed in the area. They were married July 18, 1953, at Tensed. Ruth was a teacher at Plummer Grade School for 25 years and retired in 1982. While teaching at Plummer, Ruth continued her education at the University of Idaho, and received a degree in elementary education in 1969.

Ruth was active in the Tensed Community Church. She played piano for church, weddings and funerals for many years. She taught adult Bible studies, was the church choir director and sang for many services. She was also a youth home missionary for Stonecroft Ministries. She was also a member of the Highland Ladies Club and the Ladies auxiliary for the Gideons.

Survivors include one daughter, Lynette Daman and her husband, Dylan Talbot of DeSmet; three sons, Paul (Leann) Daman, DeSmet; Keith (Penny) Daman, DeSmet, and Glenn (Rebecca) Daman, Stevenson; 11 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ora.

Memorials may be given to the Tensed Community Church Siding Fund.
