A memorial service for Alvin (Al) F. Palmer, 69, will be Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, 11 a.m. at Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse with Pastor Kathy Kramer officiating. Viewing was at Kramer Funeral Home Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012 from 10 A.M. to 2 p.m. for family and friends. Cremation will follow and urn burial will at a later date in the Mountain View Cemetery at Farmington. Mr. Palmer died Dec. 18, 2012 at the Pullman Regional Hospital.
Born Nov. 25, 1943, at Colfax to Floyd M. and Ruth Wright Palmer, he attended school at Farmington, and at Oakesdale where he graduated from high school in 1962.
He joined the United States Navy June 8, 1962, and was discharged Aug. 5, 1966. After his service he returned to the Palouse area and began a 25-year career at Washington State University in 1967. He retired as an electrician supervisor.
He married Judith Kreid Oct. 8, 1976, at Potlatch, and the couple made their home between Palouse and Potlatch. After his retirement at WSU, Al worked for Largent Electric in Moscow for one year. He then started his own business called Palmer Electric and operated the business for 10 years when he retired.
Al was a member of the American Legion at Potlatch, enjoyed traveling, four wheeling, prairie dog hunting in Montana, the Oregon coast and spending time with friends on the St. Joe River.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Palmer, at the Potlatch home, three sons, Mike Brooks and his wife Vickie, Colbert, Jim Brooks and his wife Vickie, Post Falls, Kevin Palmer, Post Falls; one sister, Greta Pool, Spokane, and eight grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the Mountain View Cemetery, Box 175, Farmington, 99128.
