Colfax girls split games in Lewiston tournament

The Colfax girls (9-2) picked up a win and a loss this weekend at the Avista Holiday Tournament in Lewiston.

In their opening game Friday, Colfax suffered under the Lewiston press, giving up the ball and a 15-4 Lewiston lead. Colfax fought back to 19-11, before Lewiston guard Paige Wells scored seven straight points to take command of the game. Opening the third quarter, with a 12-point lead, Lewiston pulled back on their press and still held Colfax to just four third-quarter points.

In the end, Lewiston had forced 27 turnovers on the Bulldogs including 20 steals.

In the tournament’s consolation round, Colfax beat Clarkston 49-32 on Saturday as Nicole Sheer lead the team with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Rachel Robinson and Taylor Larsen added 12 points each for Colfax. Amara Huber had six steals. The Bulldogs struggled in the first half, shooting only 17 percent from the floor, before hitting 56 percent in the second half.
