Margaret M. Flynn, 93, passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Considerate Care in Palouse.
Margaret was born Oct. 28, 1919, at Anaconda, Mont., to Paul Joseph and Josephine (Reynolds) Everett, Sr. She grew up and attended schools in Montana and attended the Great Falls School of Nursing where she received a degree in Nursing. She served in the United States Navy Nursing Corps during World War II from 1943 – 1946, serving in Southern California and the South Pacific, most notably in the Guadalcanal campaign. Following the war, she worked as a Registered Nurse for several Pasadena doctors for many years.
Margaret married William John (Jack) Flynn in Anaconda, Mont., in 1956. The couple moved to San Clemente, Calif., in 1963. Margaret worked as an administrative secretary at TRW Test site in San Clemente for the next 14 years. TRW produced the lunar lander engine and moon buggy at the time. Her husband died in 1992. Margaret continued to make her home in California until moving to Palouse four years ago.
While in California, she was a member of several civic organizations: the Women’s Overseas League, the Navy Nursing Corps Assn., Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in San Clemente and the Irving Berlin Chapter of the Performing Arts. Peg loved animals and worked with the local humane society and animal rescue.
She is survived by her niece, Paulette (Barry) Mills of Farmington, several other nieces and nephews, cousins and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rita and George Flynn of S. Pasadena, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack and her brothers Paul, Harold, and William (Bill) Everett.
Cremation will be held and her remains will be buried at Ascension Cemetery in El Toro, Calif. Memorial gifts may be given to the local Humane Society.
