Funeral services for Jeanne Renz, 86, a resident of Potlatch, Idaho, were held on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at 11 a.m., at Grace Lutheran Church, Potlatch, with Rev. Larry Veith officiating. Burial followed at the Mendenhall Cemetery at Onaway, Idaho. Mrs. Renz passed away on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at the Aspen Park Care Center in Moscow.
She was born on June 3, 1926, at Lyons, Neb., to Christian and Tamsey (Perry) Shawver. Jeanne attended school at Lyons, Neb., and graduated from Blackbird High School at the age of 14. She later attended the Wayne State Teachers College and received her teaching certificate. Jeanne taught school in a one room school house at Edgeington, Neb., for three years.
Jeanne married Warren Renz on Aug. 3, 1946, at Lyons, Neb., and the couple made their home at Rosalie, Neb., where they farmed. In 1960, the couple moved to Potlatch and later to Harvard, Idaho, in 1961 where they operated a small ranch and raised cattle. Mr. Renz was a general contractor in construction. He died in 1992.
Jeanne moved to Potlatch in 1993 where she made her home until she moved to Aspen Park in August of 2012.
She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church at Potlatch, currently serving as president of WELCA. She loved quilting, baking, reading, word search puzzles, playing the piano and her church.
Survivors include three sons, Phil Renz and his wife Carol, Dwight Renz and his wife, Susan, both of Onaway, Idaho, and Donald Renz of Potlatch; two daughters, Starla Wessels and her husband Thom, Spokane, and Doreen Workman and her husband, Ray, Harvard, Idaho; 12 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Terry Renz, and one great-granddaughter, Anita Johnson.
