Colton to meet Tekoa-Oakesdale for girls’ title

Colton will play Tekoa-Oakesdale in the 2013 District 9 championship game Friday night at Colfax High School.

Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m.

The Wildcat girls advanced to the final with a 72-25 win over Rosalia last Friday while Tekoa-Oakesdale narrowly beat St. John Endicott 42-40.

The winner of the championship game will move on to Regionals while the loser will play Saturday against the winner of the loser’s bracket.

Whoever wins that game will go to Regionals as the District 9 No. 2 seed.

Losers bracket

The girls 1B District 9 tournament took up residence at Colfax High School this week.

In the losers bracket, the Gar-Pal girls beat Rosalia 49-33 Tuesday to advance to play St. John-Endicott with a trip to Regionals on the line.

Taylor Redman led the team with 19 points in the game while Alexis Rodriguez scored 18.

St. John-Endicott beat Touchet 60-43 Tuesday to advance. The Eagles put together a 20-0 third quarter performance which turned the game in their favor. Emily Jones had 21 points to lead the team while Rachel Gfeller added 16.
