Helen M. Byrne

A graveside service for Helen M. Byrne, 95, will be today, Thursday, Feb. 28, at 1:30 p.m. at the Garfield Cemetery, Garfield, with Pastor Kathy Kramer officiating. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date in late May or June of this year. Mrs. Byrne died last Thursday evening, Feb. 21, 2013, at the Whitman Health and Rehab in Colfax, where she has resided for two years. She previously resided at Ladow Court Assisted Living in Garfield.

Born Jan. 10, 1918, at Cora in Latah County, Idaho, to Martin and Martha Parkinson Anderson, she attended schools at Garfield and graduated from Garfield High School in 1937.

She married Robert (Bud) Byrne Nov. 16, 1938, at Colville, and they made their home at Garfield. Mr. Byrne, who worked for J.E. Love Company for many years, died in 1997.

She was a member of the Garfield Bridge Club.

Survivors include two sons, Timothy Byrne, Cypress, Texas, and David Byrne, Garfield; one daughter, Maureen Byrne, Garfield; one brother, Donald Anderson, Lewiston; two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to the Garfield-Farmington E.M.S. or to the Garfield Fire Department.
