Australian poet slated at Rosalia

Award-winning Australian storyteller and performance poet Carol Heuchan will appear on Sunday, March 3, at 1 p.m. at the Budding Rose Gallery in Rosalia.

She has won numerous awards in Australia and has performed at prestigious events in North America, including the National Cowboy Poetry Festival and similar events in Colorado, Arizona and Utah. This will be her first visit to the Pacific Northwest. After appearing in Rosalia, she heads to a major festival in British Columbia.

An accomplished horse rider and trainer, she has loved animals all her life. She got her first horse at age 15 and never looked back. She competed in the Royal Easter Show, Australia’s premier equestrian extravaganza 34 consecutive years, winning many honors along the way.

She writes with compassion, humor and wisdom.

This will be the first time since 2010 that the Budding Rose has hosted an Australian poet, which had become a tradition for owners Jim and Diane Nebal. Local cowboy poet Dick Warwick will be master of ceremonies for the show.

Admission is $5, with a portion of the proceeds going to Dollars for Scholars.
