Serving Whitman County since 1877
Margo Balzarini of Colfax and Patricia Arnold of Thornton opened Palouse River Quilts Monday on Main Street in Colfax. Their store is the fourth fabric business to operate at the site. They have spent the past two months painting and making other preparations for opening the business.
The store will operate Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. They will offer fabrics, patterns, thread and other supplies for quilting and embroidery. They also plan to offer class sessions and allow quilters to wrap up unfinished projects in the store.
The building at the corner of Spring and Main Street was the long time location of Grady Drug in Colfax. The Quilted Moose was the prior occupant of the site which they had previously shared with Hen House Chicks.
The Hen House Chicks are now located on the opposite side of Main in the former liquor store site. The proprietors of the quilt store plan a grand opening celebration on Saturday, April 13.
The Balzarinis have resided in Colfax since 1978.
