St. John: Postal patrons unhappy with shorter hours

In spite of letter campaigns and an overflowing public meeting, the St. John Post Office’s hours are reduced from eight to six hours daily and veteran postmaster, Bill Corder, is now working at the LaCrosse Post Office.

Corder, who was St. John postmaster for almost 20 years, transferred to LaCrosse because his position in St. John was reduced to six hours a day.

Linda Whitman of Benge, who formally held the LaCrosse job, now works the six-hour stint in St. John. She said she waves to Corder as he commutes south to LaCrosse.
