Mendoza wins Elks Hoop Shoot regional

The daughter of Tammy and Ignacio Mendoza, she represented Idaho in the age 12-13 bracket, because of the way the Elks designate the state boundaries for the contest. Tatiana won by making 23 of 25 free throws.

Her total was the highest of any competitor among the girls and boys ages 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13.

She will now advance to the Elks National Hoop Shoot April 18-21 in Springfield, Mass. She will compete against 11 other girls, each representing four states.

Tatiana will travel to Springfield on an all-expense paid trip with her parents. The trip includes a visit to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
