County, Pullman explore tax sharing plan

Whitman County commissioners and Pullman city officials are working on a plan to share property and sales tax income.

“We want to act collaboratively instead of competitively,” said Commissioner Michael Largent. “We want to work in partnership.”

Largent said the proposed area covered in the tax sharing agreement is the Pullman-Moscow Corridor and Pullman’s urban growth area that’s county controlled.

As Pullman expands, Largent said the proposal calls for the city and county to share tax income.

“It collaboratively encourages economic development in those areas,” he said.
