A memorial service for Marjorie E. Merrill, 88, will be today, Thursday, March 28, at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Princeton, Idaho. Pastor Bob Lambert will officiate.
A private family urn burial will be at the Freeze Cemetery at a later date. Mrs. Merrill died Thursday morning, March 21, 2013, at Gritman Medical Center in Moscow.
Born March 25, 1924, at Boone, Iowa to Forrest H. and Eunice R. (McCracken) Jones, she attended schools in Boone and graduated from high school there in 1942. She worked for the next three months in a munitions plant in Iowa before moving with her parents to Chelan in 1943. There she worked as an operator for General Telephone for the next six years.
She and Edward Merrill were married April 2, 1949, at Coeur d’Alene. Marjorie was a homemaker and he worked as a lineman for various power companies in the Pacific Northwest. After living in a variety of communities, the couple settled in Princeton, Idaho, in 1965. Her husband, Edward, died in 1972. Marjorie later worked at Wasson’s Grocery Store in Princeton, was a waitress at Wade’s Café in Moscow and worked at Culligan’s Soft Water Co. prior to retiring.
Marjorie enjoyed reading, gardening and collecting chimes. She made delicious molasses cookies.
Survivors include three sons, Edward (Cheryl) Merrill of Viola, Arthur ‘Bud’ (Jody) Merrill of Olivehurst, Calif., and Patrick (Tamara) Merrill of Princeton; two daughters, Sheila (Gary) Guernsey of Potlatch and Laurel Parkins of Moscow; 12 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Memorial gifts may be given to the Potlatch Ambulance Fund, Box 63, Potlatch, ID, 83855 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
