Katie Yoder, a junior at Garfield-Palouse High School, stands next to a mural she is painting on a wall in George Landle’s Physical Science classroom. Yoder, a third-period teacher’s aide, has been working on the 15 X 8 Alaskan scene since mid-February. Yoder was trying to decide on a class to take when Landle suggested she could be his aide and paint the wall.“I’d say I’m closer to being done,” Yoder said of the acrylic scene now, which began with just a life-size Kodiak bear and sockeye salmon. Now it includes Mt. McKinley and other features in the background. She said it will definitely be complete by the end of the semester.
