Heather Young, Jenna Moser, Hannah Kramer, Jacline Warner and Taylor Graham took the stage in grass skirts to Colton-Uniontown’s 22nd Distinguished Young Women’s program themed “Tropical Escape,” March 30. The vibrant evening was filled with beach tunes, hula dancing and musical performances against a sunset backdrop.
Heather Young earned top honors of the evening with the 2014 Colton-Uniontown DYW title and $500 scholarship to the school of her choice. Jenna Moser followed in the first alternate position earning a $250 scholarship. Hanna Kramer was awarded the “spirit award” and $150 in scholarship funds as second alternate.
Special guest appearances were made by 2013 Colton-Uniontown DYW Jordana Dahmen and first alternate Samra Meyer.
Special entertainment during the program was the Rising Stars Dance Studio and Christine Stout, fellow junior classman, danced to “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” to the delight of the Easter weekend crowd. This year’s program was chaired and choreographed by Jane Ann Brewer with the support of many volunteers and donors.
