New Tekoa royalty crowned

Cassandra Mendoza, center, was named Miss Tekoa March 16 at the program in the Empire Theater. Princesses Morgan Angelo, right, and Dawn Marie Konshuk, left, will round out the 2013-2014 court. The theme of the evening program was “If the Shoe Fits.” Ray Bernard was emcee. Cassandra also received the Miss Congeniality award. Outgoing royalty Queen Ce’Nedra Thomas and princesses Kayler Dub, Nicole Zimmerman and Darby Ratz gave their farewell speeches and presented a slide show of their year together. Melton Fabrication was honored for volunteering to build the new float chassis. The new court will be in the Lilac and Armed Forces Day Parade May 18 in Spokane.
