Do you have unused prescription drugs in your home? If so, please take advantage of the prescription drug take-back on Saturday, April 27, at the Whitman County Sheriff’s office.

It is not safe to dispose of prescription drugs by flushing down the toilet or putting into the garbage as they can leech into the ground water. Getting them out of your house also reduces the chance of abuse. Half of teens who abuse prescription drugs say they are easy to get from their parents’ medicine cabinets or through other people’s prescriptions.

We need to get these medications, especially narcotics, out of your homes and off the streets. It is important to dispose of medications safely and this weekend’s take-back is one way to do that. Let’s make our community safer by properly disposing of unneeded prescription drugs this weekend.
