After doubleheader wins over Liberty Christian Saturday, the Colton girls softball team solidified their second-place spot in the Southeast 1B league.
Colton (14-5) hosted Saturday in the whipping wind, opening with an 11-1 win followed by a 7-4 win.
In the first game, Jenna Moser went 3 for 3 to lead the team while Kaitlin Druffel, Winnie Schultheis, Zoe Moser and Carrie Hennigar all had one hit.
Freshman Zoe Moser pitched all six innings for the Wildcats, allowing one run on no hits, two walks and five strikeouts.
“We showed up and we jumped on them like we planned on, from the get-go,” said Colton coach Brad Nilson.
In the second game, Colton started off slower. Their first scoring came in the bottom of the third inning, when they picked up three runs.
“We couldn’t seem to get started hitting,” said Nilson.
At the plate, Druffel went 3 for 4 to lead the team.
Winnie Schultheis pitched the whole game, going seven innings to allow five hits with two walks and six strikeouts.
The wins keep Colton in second-place while Touchet holds first in the league and Gar-Pal and Liberty Christian are tied for third.
On May 14, district playoff games will be held, in which the top four teams will play. The winners will meet May 16 for slots to the state tournament.
