Beta chapter recognizes float crew

Members of Tekoa and Oakesdale’s float committee have been named for the women of the year honor by the Preceptor Gamma Lambda chapter of Beta Sigma Phi of Tekoa and Oakesdale.

They are Karen Blomgren, Robin Harp, Linda Zehm, Marianne Gordon, Melinda Gordon and (not pictured) Hillary Lawson.

On the committee since 1999, they start organizing the event in January and after its presentation in March they start building a new float with the help of husbands, the royalty and their parents.

The first parade is the Spokane Lilac Festival and the float appears in community parades and functions during the summer and on into the fall.

Also honored as Girl of the Year was Marianne Gordon for her outstanding job while serving as club president.
