L/W tennis players advance

Five players from the LaCrosse-Washtucna tennis team have advanced to regionals.

Playing at West Valley High School in Spokane May 9 and 10 for the District 9 tournament, three players placed to advance while two are alternates.

The L/W girls’ doubles team of Chelsie Kneale and Amber McCaleb finished fourth to qualify for the regional tournament while singles player Brooklyn Hostetler did the same.

Finishing in fifth-place to earn spots as alternates were girls singles player Lura Potter and boys’ player Justin Wargo.

Wargo, a senior who played at state last year, will hope for an opportunity at the regional tournament, which will also be held at West Valley High School in Spokane.

The regional tournament consists of 1B, 2B and 1A schools. Matches will be played Thursday and Friday.
