The Tekoa-Oakesdale-Rosalia and St. John-Endicott-LaCrosse-Washtucna track teams both send high qualifiers to Thursday and Friday’s District track meet at Clarkston.
Competing at Walla Walla May 9 for the sub-district meet, the top eight finishers in each event advanced to districts.
All together, the TOR team has 21 kids who made districts, including five of them in four events. These include Tyler Blakely, Courtenay Perry, Maddie Bogenreif, Melissa Groom and Jamie Wilson.
The SJELW team has 22 who qualified for districts, including four in four events; Gretchen Van Lith, Abby Glorfield and Darcy Stamper.
Van Lith set a new St. John-Endicott school record in Walla Walla with a distance of 16 feet, 10 and 3/4 inches. The previous mark was set by Andee Schmick in the mid-‘90s.
The district meet will be at Clarkston High School Thursday and Friday. The top two placers in each event will advance to the state meet in Cheney.
