Senior Projects
In the midst of school bonds and education cuts our community is fighting to support our schools.
Our daughter Camper, will graduate soon but first she must complete her senior project which she started last summer.
Her inspiration for her project came from her grandmothers Iris Kramlich and Carol Jorstad who lost their husbands within months of each other and also Dalton DeeRoy who died in an accident some years ago.
Both grandmothers were in support of Campers project decision.
When times got tough, her uncle and aunt, Joe and Kim Schmick also gave her support. The most support Camper received came from Bob Warnock, her mentor, of Kimball’s Funeral Home.
Camper put in close to 200 hours for her project and chose not to tell any of her friends because she didn’t want to answer uncomfortable questions.
Bob did a wonderful job mentoring Camper and we can’t thank him and Craig and Nikki Corbeil, enough for giving her this opportunity.
Camper befriended Bob Ingalls who talked at some of the services she attended and who helped with some of her progress notes.
Bob Warnock gave Camper direction and taught her the highest respect for those who have passed away.
She plans to become a funeral director and we will support her every step of the way.
This is a wonderful and needed service to our community.
In the state of Washington it is law that our seniors complete a project at the end of the school year.
We don’t care what they do but if the school gives permission, then the students need our support. As we have learned, community support is just as important as family support. If we are going to have these types of projects in the interest of the students, we feel that it is important that the student be encouraged and supported in their choices of culminating projects, Although Camper’s project was in a field in which many are uncomfortable, it is a necessary and needed field.
We should all be thankful for her thoughtfulness and dedication to her project that is in many cases beyond what most students do.
