Thompson, Neibergs lead Viking class

Cassie Ann Thompson, daughter of Scott and Ann Thompson, is the valedictorian of the 2013 class at Garfield/Palouse High School, and Hannah Marie Neibergs has been named salutatorian. Thompson, who earned a 3.92 grade average, served as class president for four years. She is a member of the National Honor Society and a member of FFA where she earned the state degree. She played on the Viking volleyball team and won all-league honors. She also competed in track. Cassie plans to attend the University of La Verne to study international business and language and play on the volleyball team.

The daughter of Shannon and Holly Neibergs, Hannah earned a 3.68 grade average. She served as president of the National Honor Society and vice president of the FFA where she earned the State Farmer degree and showed grand champion steers at the Palouse Empire Fair and Spokane Junior Livestock show. She was also a 4H Youth leader. She plans to attend Washington State University where she will study to become a neonatal nurse.

Hannas, Stubbs lead LaCrosse class

David Lane Hannas, son of Dave and Sharon Hannas, is valedictorian of the LaCrosse High School class of 2013 with a 3.94 grade average. Hannas has been involved in football, National Honor Society, FFA and Washington State High School Rodeo. He also served as senior class president. He plans to attend Washington State University next year and pursue a degree in agricultural technology and management.

Matthew Evan Stubbs, son of Mike and Tami Stubbs, was named salutatorian with a 3.87 grade average. He has served as vice president of FFA and National Honor Society and secretary-treasurer of the student body. He has participated in football, basketball and baseball teams. He plans to attend Colorado State University and pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.
