Colfax Junior Rodeo marks 38th edition

A total of 130 junior wranglers competed in the 38th annual Colfax Junior Rodeo over the weekend at the Palouse Empire Fairgrounds with a full round of events each day.

The all-around champion cowgirl award went to Hannah Beeman-Chlarson of Moses Lake. Hannah competed in the PeeWee girls division (ages 6-8), and won the CA stake and goat flanking and placed second in barrels and poles.

The all-around champion cowboy award went to Caleb Berquist of LaCrosse. Caleb competed in the intermediate boys division (ages 12-14) and won the goat tying and placed second in the breakaway and team roping and third in the steer daubing.

Junior rodeo entrants compete in one of five different age division. Points are earned for each event that the contestant enters. The all-around prizes go to the high point cowboy and cowgirl.

Funding for these prizes comes from donations made by local businesses and supporters of the Colfax Junior Rodeo group.
