Airport Road work continues

Paving on the Colfax Airport Road project is now targeted for late July or early August, Public Works Director Mark Storey told county commissioners Monday. He said the contractor has made up for some of the time loss sustained during the run of wet weather in June.

Top grading of the west end of the project, from Highway 26 to the Duncan Springs Road intersection has been completed, and sub grading for the balance of the road to the Almota Road on the west side has almost been finished.

The county aims to get the project done and the road open before the influx of returnees when WSU starts its fall term.

Storey also said Central Washington Asphalt crews will break from the Hume Road project and begin work on Lancaster Road for the week of July 8. They are projected to return to the Hume project July 17. Scheduling between the two jobs hinges on the Highway 23 project which will be done by Poe Asphalt.
