‘Fish On’ series

set at Dahmen

Artisans at the Dahmen Barn features the July exhibit and several free activities during the month on the theme “Fish On!” Pastels, watercolors and oil paintings, all of fish, plus steel sculptures, fishing rods and fishing nets are featured in this exhibit. The show features art from Judy Fairly, Barney Saneholtz, Melissa Cole, Pat Elder, William Hendrix, Andy Sewell, Jackie Ryan and John Bergen.

The artists will be present at a reception on July 14. No pre-registration is required for the workshops and demonstrations. Just drop in to fish on! The exhibit opens on July 5 and continues through July 28.

July 7 - Fly casting workshop and rod repair demonstration, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., free.

The class is for men and women. International rod builder Joe Douglas will demonstrate rod building and rod repair. Douglas owns Black Dog Tackle, LLC, a custom rod building business and Rod Builders Institute, the nation’s only school teaching custom rod building classes for hobby and professional builders. Joe has been building custom fishing rods for more than 15 years.

July 14 - Reception with artists present includes a book signing and fly tying demonstration, 1 to 4 p.m.

Idaho fly fisherman and author Will Godfrey will sign copies of “Seasons of the Steelhead.” The book will be available for purchase and everyone who purchases the book at the Barn will receive one of Will’s tied steelhead flies.

July 21 - Fly casting workshop 1 to 3 p.m., free.

July 28 - Fly rod building and repair demonstration. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. by Douglas.

Kamiak features Cash

Jim Cash will host the Kamiak Butte Evening Campfire program Saturday, July 6, beginning at 6 p.m. He will explain why Kamiak Butte is nestled in the middle of the rolling fields, and other interesting facts about the Palouse. This program takes place in Kamiak Butte’s amphitheater. In the event of inclement weather, the program will move into the Larch Shelter, the large covered shelter above the day use area. (This is a program change from the initial program schedule released in May.)

Bob the Builder at Neill

Young children of all ages are invited to Reaney Park, Tuesday, July 9, from 10:30-11:15 p.m. to join Bob the Builder, popular book and television character. It will be a digging-good time for everyone with fun songs, unearthed treasures and great door prizes. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to bring their cameras to take a picture of their child with Bob the Builder at this free event sponsored by the Friends of Neill Public Library.

Garza, Jesse Harold, born June 19 at seven pounds, 12 ounces, to Jesse and Sara Garza of Colfax. Paternal grandparents are Cindy and John Garza of Colfax. Maternal grandparents are Mary and Ed Teel of Walla Walla. The baby joins sister Emma, 2.

Jonquet, Josiah Patrick, born June 22 at seven pounds, 11 ounces, to Aaron Jonquet and Heather Roeder of Deary, Idaho. The baby joins sister Kaylynn, 5, and brother James, 4.

Walters, Trace Lane, was born June 23, at nine pounds, four ounces, first child to Cali Lynd Walters and Conrad Walters of Pullman. Paternal grandparents are Roger and Tami Walters of Wenatchee. Maternal grandparents are Rusty and Dana Lynd of Spokane.

Scheibe, Logan James, was born June 25 at six pounds to Jason and Helen Scheibe of Moscow, Idaho. Paternal grandparents are Don and Heidi Scheibe of Moscow, Idaho. Maternal grandparents are Ellen Skaer of Portland, Ore., and Bobby Shores of Moscow, Idaho. The baby joins brothers Levi, 6, and Landen, 2.

Chapman, Liam Nolan-Ronald, born June 27 at eight pounds, five ounces, to Edmond and Kellie Chapman of Palouse. Paternal grandparents are Debra and Gary Teeter of Keizer, Ore.
