St. John
Members of the Glorfield family gathered at the St. John Community Center on June 23 with 48 attending.
The noon potluck meal table grace was given by Joe Curtis.
Joe also listed deceased family members as follows: Bill Mills, J.P Glorfield, Clyde Boyle, Jack R. Glorfield, Eddy Maughan, Loon Murray, Ogden Ericksen, Juanita Jorgens, Dorthy Van Leuven and Ronnie Schuster.
Van Leunen did extensive research on the Glorfield Petersen German family history.
She compiled and had printed a 9x11 105-page book of the family.
The first descendent arrived from Prussia in 1848.
His name on naturalization papers was Carl Wilhem Glorfield, thereafter varied family members used the name Glorfeld/Glorfield.
In memory of Dorthy Van Leuven, the 2013 reunion contributed $100 to the St. John Hisorical Society and Museum.
In honor of Ben Glorfield, a $150 donation was given to Whitman Hospital to have a leaf placed in the Veterans Memorial.
To help defray expenses for the reunion, a silent line auction was held with Eric Glorfield as auctioneer assisted by Bruce Maughan.
Thoses attending were Doris Eriksen, Tracy and April Eriksen, Kye and Christy Eriksen, Don and Alva May Jorden, Gracie Ann Miller, Bruce and Vicki Maughan, Marie Kelseth, Jeanne Murray, Tom and Dona O’Shaughnessy, Bernice Glorfield, Syrelda Moberly, Benny Glorfield, Lila Joy Ness, Stevie Pfaff and her children Colton, Kiley and Gracie Mae, Eric and Cindy Glorfield, Mike Glorfield and friend Jenefer Hagland, Vernelle Stephens, John and Lila Novak, Eva Smith and her children Lilamarie, Anika and Triston, Jimmy and Amanda Curtis, Joe Curtis, David Curtis, Peggy Curtis, Dawn Bass, Patsy Schuster, Matt Mills, Lois Horner and Vicki St. John.
Benny Glorfield and daughter Lila Joy Ness from Eloy, Ariz., were visting family and friends for the last couple of weeks. They came to attend the Glorfield reunion.
Alva May Jorden and her brother, Benny Glorfield, drove to Omak last week to visit sister Patsy Schuster for a couple of days. On the way home, they stopped in Coulee Dam to view the dam and take pictures of the massive amount of water going over it.
St. John Elementary will present Camp Out for Learning July 29 - Aug 8, 9 to 11:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday for grades first through fifth. Please call the school to sign up.
P.O.W. is finished with the road in front of the post office and parking is back to normal. They also have most of the sidewalks on Park Street poured. However, the road is still closed and motorists are asked to keep using detours. The project should wrap up in the next couple of weeks.
