Building spruce up

Colfax High School students Alex Martinez, right, and Kim Hinnenkamp paint the windows of Higginson’s Furniture storage building on Main Street in Colfax. The project came about by CherryAlice Van Tine, a volunteer who has worked to clean up the building for the past five years. On Saturday, she and volunteers LaVerne and Mary Ann Sharp put up donated lace drapes in the windows of the second floor – a former boarding house. Morgan Watson cleaned the outside and inside of the building in July for owner Michael Higginson. ‘I wish I had a million dollars, I’d buy it and fix it up,’ Van Tine said.
