Residents attend Riley rites

Many Dusty residents were part of the large gathering attending the graveside services at the Rosalia Cemetery for Mildred Riley Friday. Afterward, a potluck luncheon was served at the former Congregational Church in Malden with Mildred’s favorite, huckleberry ice cream, for dessert. She is survived by her children Walter, Forrest and Zanna, nine grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Two weekends ago, Ed and Joan Broeckel’s children, Jennifer and Anthony Harkishnani of Bellevue and Amber Broeckel and her friend Dominic Lovotti of Boise, were home to take in part of harvest. The family also went boating on the Snake River on Sunday.

Visitors at the home of Dick and Suzy McNeilly for the past week have been Suzy’s daughter and grandson, Christina Cain and Mason from Camp LeJeune, N.C. Four year old Mason has enjoyed combine rides with grandpa.

Sue and Joe Lynch, Pullman, spent Saturday at the home of her parents, Dick and Helen Appel. They spent the day painting the baby bed that was used when Helen was a baby. The Lynches are preparing to move to Purdue University in Indiana where Joe will do post-doctoral research.

Art and Colene Sager celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their immediate family spending the weekend at their place.

The family arrived Friday with camp trailers and a lot of food and proceeded to provide a weekend of memories.

Daughter Gaylene and her family, husband Don Manning, children Sarah, Luke and Hannah from Valleyford; son Blake and his wife Marcy and children Jullene and Kenneth from Colfax; son Kyle and his wife Ann Marie from Spokane; and Marcy’s parents, Othelo and Julie Quilang from Colfax were attendees.

All attended Country Bible Church together on Sunday.

Granddaughter Hannah provided special piano music for the service.

Following the service, Duane Drader, Colfax, took family pictures to mark the 50th year.

Last week on Tuesday, Linda Hennigar was an overnight guest of Chuck and Ann Hennigar Butler at their home in Clarkston. Saturday, she joined 23 cousins and her last surviving aunt and uncle, Dagmar and Marv Kirking of Sandpoint, at the Haugness cousins reunion at the home of Brett and Pam Kirking and children Madison and Ammandalyn in Post Falls. Some of the cousins included former Dusty residents, Gloria and Norm Erickson, Colfax; Elaine and Dave Hogan, Richland, Gracia Stueckle, Seattle, and Gary and Marit Stueckle, Edmonds.
