Bonnie Smith, representing the Thrifty Grandmothers, accepted a key to the City of Colfax Aug. 22 at a luncheon sponsored by the Colfax Chamber of Commerce.
The luncheon, catered by Hill Ray Plaza, is an annual chamber event.
Colfax Mayor Todd Vanek presented the city’s key to Smith.
“The greatest thing is what they give back to the community,” he said. “I know they helped the swim team and they helped us with the Concrete River Festival. There’s a lot of giving back to the community. As mayor, I want to recognize this group.”
“We love the community and we’re just overwhelmed,” Smith said. “We’re thankful to be a part of this thriving community and this thriving group.”
All proceeds from the Thrifty Grandmothers store on Main Street in Colfax go to organizations and charities. Volunteers of the grandmothers group operate the store on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
