Activity at the Palouse Empire fairground at Mockonema Monday provided contrasting scenes.
Members of the Mockonema 4H club were busy decorating the display wall with frames in the sheep building.
Meanwhile, members of the threshing bee committee spent time visiting beneath the lean-to in the back of the arena barn.
They were waiting for enough sunshine to start the old time threshing bee.
Monday was the first total rainout for the threshing bee in its 30-plus years.
Crew members had worked most of the week to prepare the machinery, and visiting teams came from Post Falls, Davenport and Clarkston.
The harvest bee requires 24 mules and horses to operate, and most of the teams also spent the day under the lean-to.
