The Washington State University Cougar football team is on a winning streak.
Cougar fans don’t get to say this very often.
Let’s face it: our Cougs aren’t known for their winning record.
But WSU Cougar fans, if nothing else, are loyal.
Last week, motorhomes, trailers and assorted vehicles of all kinds started coming through Colfax, crimson and gray Cougar flags flying high on most vehicles Wednesday afternoon. Traffic didn’t really calm down until almost game time on Saturday afternoon.
Photos I’ve seen of the stadium looked like there wasn’t one seat left. And who could blame anyone for not attending a football game in Pullman on a beautiful, although toasty, Saturday afternoon? I also heard Cougar fans were loudly supporting their team during the game.
The stadium, with all its improvements, looks like something any Cougar would be proud of.
And with new buildings at WSU, including the remodeling at Ferdinand’s, a Cougar should be proud of what was once known as a “cow college.”
This Saturday is WSU’s Homecoming and once more, Colfax’s Main Street will be filled with Cougar alums and fans, flags waving mightily in the breeze.
Here’s hoping for one more win and for continued success. But if the Cougs don’t win, fans don’t really care. We all love our Cougs anyway.
GO COUGS!
