Katherine Ann Corder, daughter of William and Joan Corder of St. John, was given in marriage by her parents to Timothy Daniel Hawley, son of Charles and Kathrin Hawley of Springdale March 23, 2013, at Christian Life Assembly Church in St. John. Pastor Stan Chambers officiated.
The church was decorated in blues and purples with floral arrangements in silver buckets lining the aisles and beribboned candelabra. Chelsey Schmit, cousin of the bride, and Emily Jones, friend of the bride, greeted guests as they entered the church. The music was a special compilation of favorite songs of the bride and groom with Janna Nelsen as pianist. Dan Schmit, uncle of the bride, performed “The Wedding Song” on the guitar and “Starlight Dreams”, a song written and recorded by the groom for the bride, played in the background as the Unity Candle was lit.
The bride’s white silk gown was adorned with a beaded bodice, ruching, and a pin tucked train with a short veil and jeweled headpiece.
The bride also wore a diamond heart-shaped necklace, a gift from her father. The bridal bouquet was a mixture of white roses, daisies, and pale blue and purple seasonal flowers and included three large rhinestone buttons on stems, treasures from her grandmother’s cedar chest.
Matron of Honor was Laura Merrin, friend of the bride, and bride’s maids were Melody Barnett, and Melissa Suarez, also friends of the bride. They wore floral print dresses in blues and purples and short white elbow length sweaters.
Best man was Joshua Heumier, friend of the groom from Spokane and groomsmen were Luke Moyer, Spokane, and Peter Hawley, the groom’s brother from Texas. Ushers were David Corder, Seattle, and Andrew Corder, Walla Walla, brothers of the bride.
Kyle Schmit, Boise, and Matthew Schmit, Sacramento, cousins of the bride, were candlelighters. Hannah Hawley, niece of the groom, was the flower girl, and Miles Corder, nephew of the bride, was the ring bearer. Jane Hawley, daughter of a bridesmaid, served as honorary flower girl. Carter Hawley, Peyton Hawley, Jake Hawley, all nephews of the groom, and Isaac Schmit and Xavier Schmit, cousins of the bride, were honorary ring bearers.
Jane’s dress, sewn by the bride’s mother, matched those of the bridesmaids. Ring bearers all wore matching vests, sewn by the bride’s grandmother, with white shirts and black pants. Hannah carried a floral ball with ribbons and the boys wore matching white baby daisy boutonnieres.
A reception followed at the St. John Community Building. Walls were covered in white satin and the ceiling was draped with white Christmas lights and white tulle. The dance area was enclosed in silver satin with special effects lighting by David Corder. He also designed the photo booth and other electronics.
The three tier cake, decorated by Brenda Trunkey, was adorned with purple ribbon, fresh flowers and silver and crystal initials. Guests were served a sit-down dinner with a buffet dessert table complete with special wedding cookies baked by the bride’s grandmother. Tables were covered with white satin tablecloths, overlaid with plum organza squares, with centerpieces featuring live heart-shaped ivy topiaries in silver buckets, each draped with a favorite quote of the bride and groom.
