After losing in the championship of the Viking Classic over the weekend, the Gar-Pal volleyball team hosted Tekoa-Oakesdale again Tuesday night and went down in three straight games.
Losing 25-10, 25-19 and 25-18 to the two-time defending state champions, Gar-Pal coach Brad Rader said the Nighthawks are frontrunners to win another title.
For Tekoa-Oakesdale, Alexa Lindgren had 28 assists in the match and six aces while Cassandra Mendoza added 12 kills and six digs. Olivia Pakootas had five blocks.
Chandler Pfaff led Gar-Pal with 11 assists and two aces while Kenzi Wells and Cassidy Clarkston had four kills each. Clarkston added three blocks.
On Saturday, for the 10-team Viking Classic, Gar-Pal and T.O. both won their pools to meet in the championship, which the Nighthawks won 25-20, 25-15.
"Every game we play we gain more experience," said Rader. "We get a little better, and a little better."
Tekoa-Oakesdale will play next at home vs. Colfax on Thursday at 6 p.m. Gar-Pal plays next at home Oct. 3 vs. St. John-Endicott.
