County begins budget review

Whitman County department managers began budget reviews with commissioners Oct. 3.

For the preliminary budget process, each department manager related the background of the department, the current budget for the department, how many employees are in the department and the department’s function.

Gary Petrovich, county administrative director, said the departments make the presentations every year.

“This is also to give the new commissioners background information about the departments,” he said, referring to commissioners Art Swannack and Dean Kinzer who started their terms in January.
