Vollmer Building restoration advances at Uniontown

The Vollmer Building in Uniontown continues on its way to reinvigoration.

Bought at auction by the Uniontown Community Development Association in the summer of 2012, the 1889 building has been cleaned out. Stoves, sinks and a handicapped-accessible bathroom have been added.

After a recurring leak over the winter, the roof was resurfaced this summer. Meanwhile the façade on the front near the garage door and above the main door were removed, revealing the building’s original brick work.

Last April, Grandma Lela’s, a local oatmeal company, moved its manufacturing operation into the building.
