“Compassion for our Lazarus’ ”
Luke 16. 19-31
The parable we know as “the rich man and Lazarus” is Jesus’ call to embrace the miracle of God’s love.
It pulls back the curtain just a little bit so that we can get a glimpse of life in God’s kingdom.
In the parable, Jesus is expanding our so called “natural” views of brotherhood and sisterhood to include anyone who is suffering just on the other side of our “gate.” God does care about those folks whom we may well judge to be losers, almost non human.
