Coming off a lost weekend in Quincy, the Gar-Pal volleyball team traveled to Touchet Thursday, winning in three sets, 25-21, 25-21 and 25-22.
Lexi Rodriguez and Kenzi Wells both had five kills in the match, while Chandler Pfaff added 16 assists and Cassidy Clarkson posted five blocks. Foster Marcus-Nelson had eight digs.
On Saturday, the team left at 4 a.m. for a trip to a tournament in Quincy, without Pfaff, the 2012 Palouse Empire Rodeo Queen, who was appearing at the Pro West Rodeo Finals in Coeur D’Alene.
Upon arrival in Quincy, things went badly.
“It was terrible,” said Gar-Pal coach Brad Rader. “We didn’t win a set.”
In pool play, the Vikings lost to Ephrata, Quincy and Connell before dropping sets in bracket play to Othello and the Quincy junior varsity.
Gar-Pal (1-2 in league, 3-4 overall) were set to play next against LaCrosse-Washtunca at home Wednesday night followed by a trip to Oakesdale Thursday to play the Nighthawks of Tekoa-Oakesdale.

St. John Eagles booked a split in league play with a three-game win at Palouse last Thursxay, 25-14 25-14 and 25-21.
The Eagles dominated the net play and had strong serving runs by Morgan Anderson. Emily Jones ran a string of aces to break SJE out to an early lead in the first game.
Garfield/Palouse pegged a 7-6 lead in the third game put the Eagles kept up the net pressure to bound back for the three-game set.
Tuesday, Pomeroy stopped the Eagles 25-14 25-10 and 25-15 for a 2-0 league mark. with Ireland Maufield putting up 27 assists.
That put the Pirates at 2-0 in league play with wins over Colton and the Eagles.
Colton netters last Thursday pegged a three-game win over Rosalia on the Wildcats court 25-10 25-16 and 25-13 their first win in the league.
Jenna Moser hit 14 kills for the Wildcats and Zoe Moser hit six aces against the Spartans.
Tuesday's long road trip to Liberty Christian for the second league round was cancelled by the Pats.
