Asotin wins both sides at St. John

Asotin showed up at the St. John Golf course last Wednesday with a big team and won both sides of the run hosted by the SJE Eagles.

The Panther girls nipped the SJE girls by a single point in the team race with Lucy Eggelston taking the win with a 20:42.06 time.

Runners at St. John again followed the Webb’s Slough loop route which starts at the golf course and goes round the field south of the slough, before dropping down to the entry road and back to the golf course.

SJE’s Jordan Porubek and Heather Siegel paced Eggleston around the course to finish second and third with times of 21:08 and 21:11.44, and Shania Bailey picked up the number-four slot with a 21:40.16.

Asotin had its four team finishers the top 11 to bag the team honor with a 31-32 edge over the Eagles. Other finishers for St. John were Jade Porubek, 12th at 23:56, Sarah Bailey 13th at 24:50, and Annie Bailey 17th at 25:27.

Other team scores were Tri Cities Prep 62 and Pomeroy 115.

Tekoa/Oakesdale/ Rosalia’s Melissa Groom placed 19th at 25:41.84, and Kimberly Groom at 20th 25:47.26.

Chandler Tiegen of Asotin led the Panther boys in a sweep of the first five places in the boys race for a best possible team score of 15. Asotin placers were Tiegen at 17:40.34, Brady McKay at 18:05.6, Jesse Styner at 18:14.56, Thomas Weakland at 18:14.56, and Brian Stobel at 18:52.4.

Tri Cities Prep had finishers in the next seven places and the number-two team score of 40. Other team scores were Pomeroy 92, and Tekoa/Oakesdale/Rosalia 103.

Kaleb Kolb finished 14th for SJE with a 19:22.38.

Team finishers for the Nighthawks were Drew Howard, 19th at 19:45.32, Dillon Jacobs 24th at 20:41.68, Cooper Angela, 38th at 22:59.07, Jason Parker, 50th at 25:32.11 Cody Anderson, 53rd at 33:49.54, and Chris Harp, 54th at 35:68.98.
